Laundry Room Update + Pookie

Marcus has been making great progress on the laundry room. Here are some pics from the past few weeks.

Instead of drywalling up the entire loft opening, we’ve decided to put three decorative windows there. So Marcus framed out the window openings. Here he is, looking like a very hopeful Rapunzel.
Here’s the inside of the laundry room. The big wooden box thing is a big pedestal Marcus is building for our front-loading washer/dryer (which Marcus has had since before we were married). No more (or at least reduced!) bending over!

The first coat of “Nomadic Desert” has been applied. This is a new batch, so hopefully it will still blend well with the stuff the builder applied two years ago.

The first coat of paint on the inside has been applied. It’s hard to tell from the pic, but it’s a light blue. We’re unsure if we like it.

So that’s the progress made on the laundry room. Today we need to decide if the second coat of paint will still be “Bounty” or if we want to go with something with more green in it. Later this week, the tile goes in. Marcus is working like a dog!

And, since I know that posts without Pookie pics are unacceptable, here a couple of shots from the last few days.

Emrick takes a snooze in Daddy's drywall mud-encrusted arms.

I put some kitchen chairs in the family room in an attempt to confine Emrick to that area. He responded by whimpering, and then giving the chair rung a good licking!

Puppy Boy!

So obedient, he comes when called. Watch him scoot around!

Thank goodness for phone cameras.

Desk Job

Emrick is practicing for a desk job.  He will soon be available to lick stamps, give desks a good coat of saliva, and distract unwanted visitors by looking cute.  The sound effects you see in this video are an additional charge.

Delivery! Or, Happy Seven Month Birthday to Emrick!

OK, here we go!

So, as I said before, the other day I took pictures of Emrick as he was waking up from a nap on the futon. He looked so cute moving through the various stages of waking up: first the frowning and the “Huh? Whaa? Where have I been?” looks on his face, and then gradually smiling and going into explorer mode.

Anyway, as I was scrolling through the pictures on my camera, and going back and forth with some of them, I discovered by accident that a few of the pics looked really funny when viewed back and forth at a quick speed. That’s when I got the idea to animate several pairs of pictures. Of course, I have NO IDEA how to do that, so I asked Marcus if he knew how and of course, he did! So, finally, today I sat down and went through the pictures again, this time writing down exactly which pairs I wanted animated, and as I write this, Marcus is taking care of it.

So, behold: Animated Emrick!

Emrick is seven months old today (also 30 weeks and 2 days, also 212 days!)! He weighs 17 pounds and 4 ounces, and measures 25.25 inches. He is a proficient scooter and is into everything now. Time to buy some gates, I think! He smiles when I go to get him from his crib in the mornings, and he kicks and pants, literally, when Marcus gets home from work and greets Emrick with a “Hey, Buddy!” His favorite activities lately are blowing spit bubbles, squealing, scooting toward and then licking any shoes he finds on the floor, yanking earrings that dangle irresistibly from my ears, and laughing when I tell him he is “ca-ray-zay!”. In short, he’s perfect.

Happy Seven Month Birthday, Pookiness! We love you!

A Teaser, Part 2

Sorry, guys. I didn’t mean to go this long without posting the teaser follow-up. We’ve just been preoccupied this week, especially Marcus, with the laundry room. And now, for the past couple of days, Emrick has had what seems to be a cold. He is not coughing or sneezing any more than usual, but he is a bit moody and his voice is hoarse. So it’s either a cold, or puberty.

But here is my promise to you: Saturday we will post. For sure!!

A Teaser

I took some pictures of Emrick waking up from a nap on the futon the other day, and the results were adorable and funny times a thousand, plus infinity. I just scrolled through them again and laughed out loud at so many! Anyway, I have an idea for something fun I want to do with posting those pics, but I need Marcus’ help… Until then, though, here is a very small taste.

Like mother, like son.

"Hey, I know you!"

In other news, Emrick sure does seem like he’ll be crawling any day now. In just the past week he has become an extremely proficient belly-scooter! He can get anywhere he wants to now, by sliding and pushing with his hands. Trouble, here he comes!
