Hi, everyone. Sorry it’s been so long since we posted. This is Shona (even though the post says Marcus !). But we’re making up for it by posting a VIDEO today. Hooray! For those of you who have trouble watching the videos, we’ll post normal pics tomorrow — I promise!
About this video: Sometimes Marcus and I whistle to entertain Pookie, and apparently, he has begun to catch on. The other day I noticed that he was making a whistling sound. But I couldn’t see his face at the time because I was sitting behind him while he tried to climb the built-ins in the playroom. I wanted to be able to catch him if he fell backwards. Anyway, to be honest, it did not even occur to me that he could be making that sound with his mouth. I just assumed, in fact, that it was coming through his nose…. I figured that his nasal passages must be… ahem… heavily obstructed. And since later that day I spied and removed quite a bit of “material” from there, I was sure again that that was the cause of the whistling sound. But I was wrong! Later that night Marcus noticed the whistling, too, only he was looking right at Pookie’s face, and could see that Emrick’s little mouth was curled into a little “o” and our Pookie was whistling! For real! Then today Marcus did a great job of catching it on video:

OK. So there’s no discernible tune there… yet. But we’re going to work on helping him develop a full repertoire of show tunes by the time he turns a year old.

You may have to turn up the volume quite a bit! He always seems to enjoy it when we whistle at him, had no idea that he’d try it himself, so early.
This is just too darn cute! Now, be careful about everything you do and say…..he’ll be watching YOU!
I was feeling it, Dawg. I say you go to Hollywood!
NO FAIR!!!! i’m 36—errr– a LOT older and i still can’t whistle. does he give lessons?
It sounded like ANdy Griffith show to me. Just darling!
AMAZING!!! Now just put it youtube and you’ve got a hit!!
I think he gets that from his uncle Clark. He whistles all the time! Love the video!
Funny that Clark is such a whistler now. I think he learned it a little later in life… not as bad as Kellie B, though 😉
Kellie, I will talk to him about giving it a try. I don’t know if a whistling prodigy can ever teach a gift like that, though 🙂
