UPDATE!

Emrick is now using furniture to pull himself to a standing position. I imagine this means he will soon be cruising, and when that happens… well… it’s all over.

Unfortunately, Emrick’s new mobility means more opportunities for him to get hurt. I’ve been watching him like a hawk it seems, following him around from exploration to exploration to make sure he doesn’t hurt himself, but I can’t protect him perfectly, I guess. Yesterday, despite my being right there next to him, Emrick still managed to get his first bruise, inflicted by that darn coffee table! See his eye?

When he first hit his face, he screamed and held his breath 🙁 But just a few minutes later, he doesn’t look too upset about it.
My Pookie!

And now, less than 24 hours later, the bruise is just about gone. In other news, though…. EMRICK HAS JUST ABOUT GOT HIS FIRST TOOTH. We can feel it and see it — a small, rough, white line along his bottom gum, just barely starting to poke through. There’s no way to get a picture of it because we have to wrestle him just to get him still enough to see it. But as soon as it’s visible enough to be photographed, we’ll take a pic! How exciting! He’s been asking for steak for months now, and soon we can finally give him some!

This bruise will be the first of many ( we won’t even go into stitches ). I guess you should start padding those corners — right after you put up the gates — and before he knocks out one of his new teeth. Wish I could see him right this minute!!

That’s the thing… It wasn’t the corner of the table that did the damage; it was the edge of one of the cubbies underneath. Go figure! I think the only solution is to wrap the coffee table in a giant comforter and leave it that way for the next five years.

Honestly, Jason was in the emergency room at Baptist Hospital in Jax so much because of his “hyper activity”…..I think I really bought one of those little rooms behind the curtains! It’s just all part of having a little boy!
