an update!

Well, it’s been awhile, I figure we should at least try to update this thing once a month or so, even if things get busy or it feels as though nothing newsworthy has occurred.  It’s amazing how little we have to write about when we’re not traveling or on vacation.

We’ve been slowly painting the house.  I had been wanting to for awhile, but with all of the basement work I was doing it was pretty low on the priority list. It took us awhile to find the color, Lowe’s has 1/2 pint samples they can mix up and we went through 7 or 8 of them. Our living room wall looked like a patchwork quilt for awhile there.  Eventually we settled on a color and as of the time of this writing the kitchen, living room, and hallway are done, aside from a little touch-up work. Our bedroom will likely be next.

We had our first snow on the morning of Oct 12th.  We got two inches or so and it didn’t melt until later that afternoon.  Since then it’s been in the 60s and 70s.  Go figure.  The forecast is looking ok for the next week or two, so we should still have time to get the snow tires on and fill up the gas can for the snowblower.

Shona was substitute teaching for the last few weeks but an opening came up at one of the local districts and they immediately snatched her up.  Apparently they know a good thing when they see it. 😉

Shona is looking forward to Halloween. I think we’ve got 20 pounds or so of candy ready to go.

It sounds like we’ll be graced with the presence of Shona’s parents for Thanksgiving.  I hear they may be driving up, so I took the opportunity to tease Shona a bit and told her that they’re probably bringing the old Escort up to her.

Anyway, that’s all I can think up for now.  Nothing too exciting but at least you now know that we’re alive and well 🙂
