The First Name is…

Excellent Boy.

Just kidding. But I should make a confession. The first name is not really guessable. In fact, before Marcus found it online a couple of months ago, I had never even heard of it (that I can recall anyway).

Despite not hearing of it previously, however, the name is not “weird.” It is very similar to other names that are more common, and when Marcus first showed it to me I liked it right away. A Hint?  Depending on which website you look at, it has both Welsh and German origins, though the name has a different meaning in each of those languages. We have been thinking of it as a Welsh name, especially since the spelling we’re going with is more English than German.

The middle name? Totally guessable!

Finding the baby’s name online?? Makes sense….Marcus finds EVERYTHING online!! So Welsh baby names….the most natural thing in the world to look up online…NOT!

Gotta be Evan cause there’s tons of different ways to spell it.

Hmm… I didn’t know Evan was ever spelled any way other than… Evan 🙂 And don’t forget, it’s a name I had never heard of until a couple of months ago! Keep trying! 😉

Let us guess Egon. I know how much of a ghostbuster fan marcus is 🙂 You can also spell this Egan.

We will all know soon enough, isn’t it exciting?

I have it, no doubt. EMRY.

    • Samantha on September 13, 2010 at 10:53 am

Esp since the German meaning is “home ruler” and we all know that’s how it will be! Suckas!

Hehe. Not too far off, Sam. Not too far off at all 😉

Well, I was only using one spelling, but if it’s of the sort…Emery, Emory? I like the name by the way, whether that’s it or not. (possible Emrick)

No, it’s not Emry, Emory, Emery, nor any variant spelling of that name. But you’re definitely hot on the trail. Now, no more clues or information until Thursday! 😉

Let’s try Emmett. I can’t wait to see my nephew on Thursday!!!

    • mom on September 13, 2010 at 6:14 pm

    I am guessing Emerson…

    • mom on September 13, 2010 at 6:19 pm

    Emerson….Brave, powerful.

    • Marcus on September 13, 2010 at 6:28 pm

We did contemplate Emmett. By the way, I don’t think we’re going to say anything, even if someone does guess. It’s funny that even though the middle name is more guessable, nobody has focused on that!

Plus, Emerson is a name that everyone has heard of, isn’t it? To all guessers: If YOU’RE already familiar with the name, chances are good that Marcus and I are, too 😉

Well apparently you guys have picked the wrong name. I just typed both your names in a bay name picker and it says your baby should be named Tyrone!

Beowulf! Why didn’t we think of that?! Looks like the name is going to have to change to Tyrone Beowulf Sorensen. Yeah!

    • mom on September 14, 2010 at 6:36 am

I still like Eddie Bauer Sorensen….you wouldn’t have to label anything.

    Elvis Bieber Sorensen
Both names honor the best entertainers this world has ever known. I will put in my order for the monogrammed baby blanket (blue suede, if course!)

    • Marcus on September 15, 2010 at 10:16 am

I don’t think we’re classy enough to pull that off 🙂

    • Sam on September 16, 2010 at 5:14 pm

Hey! I have a baby pic of Shona that might give some insight on where all that hair came from. Where can I send it?
