Sick as a Pookie

What do you spy in the background of this photo?

Why, yes! That’s Emrick, lying half naked across a pillow. Let’s have a closer look.

Poor Emrick was sick and miserable yesterday. He was on a vomiting rampage. I went into his room yesterday morning to find that he’d thrown up on his sheet. When I got him up, I asked him if he wanted to stay in his jammies for the day, but he shook his head. “Do you want to get dressed then?” He nodded. So I put clothes on him, and we were downstairs less than ten minutes before those clothes got puked on. Poor kid.

Holly, on the other hand, was feeling great. So while Emrick’s day looked like this:

Holly’s day looked like this:

Actually, Holly’s day was even more exciting than a box full of toys. For the first time, she pulled herself into an entirely upright  standing position all on her own! For perspective, Emrick was about a month older than Holly when he did that for the first time (he did it just before turning 8 months, whereas Holly did it just before turning 7 months) and THAT was kind of early. At this rate, she’ll be riding a bike  by the time she has her 9 month check-up! Anyway, she did it while I was sitting on the edge of the sofa tending to Emrick. She shimmy-crawled her way over, reached her tiny hand up onto the couch cushion, and stood up. Then she looked at Emrick and gave him the hugest grin. It was so sweet, and I wish I’d gotten a picture. Then Emrick said, “Mama and Holly are going to make Emrick feeled better.” Yes, Pookie. We hope so.

By 5:30, Emrick was feeling much better. And today he’s 100%. He even gave Holly lessons this morning on achieving the perfect crawl.

And he did it long enough for me to make a mad dash to get my camera. What a great kid.

    Priceless!
Erick is such a good brother. Reminds me of all the things my brother John did with me growing up. He was wonderful to teach me, play with me and take me places. Sometimes I think I was his mascot but it was so much fun!! I miss him so!

That’s sweet, Janet. I would love for Emrick and Holly to grow up to be close like that!

Poor Pookie Bear. Glad he is feeling better. Meanwhile Holly will be turning cartwheels and sliding down bannisters. Gotta watch that one.
