Sorry I haven’t posted. On Friday (Pookie’s birthday), Emrick threw up in the morning (all over that cute outfit from the last post) but otherwise seemed fine, and he never threw up again. But then he got diarrhea later that day (his first ever), and then on Saturday my mother and I were both suddenly stricken with a BAD stomach flu, which may or may not have been related to Pookie’s bug. If it was related, then my mom and I got it way worse, as I only today feel totally back to normal.
So that’s why I haven’t posted. I am much better now, and so is Pookie, though the contents of his diapers continue to be… interesting.
Anyway, I’ll make good on those birthday posts this weekend. For now, here are some pics of Emrick napping and walking.
The next few pictures are of Pookie walking around in the hallway. He is pretty good at walking, but still a little wobbly and he still trips on stuff, which is why we’ve been keeping him in carpeted areas. But now that he is a little older, he is less content to stay in his carpeted playroom, even when Marcus and I are both in there to play with him. “Less content” is an understatement. Simply, he won’t have it. Pookie will have his adventures and he will HAVE THEM NOW. So now we gate off small areas of the tile so that he can get a change of scenery and practice his tile-walking skills.
In this pic below, we have a gate up at the front end of the hallway, and the office is at the opposite end. We close the other doors in the area: the bathroom, old laundry room, and mud room, and leave the office open. So Pookie can go in and out of the office as he pleases, and charge up and down the tiled hallway to his heart’s content.
Emrick had his one year check-up on Monday. I decided to forgo the vaccinations because Pookie had been sick recently, and was still having messy BMs. But the doctor said I can come by without an appointment any time in the next couple of weeks to get Pookie those shots.
The doctor also recommended that we go ahead and keep this coming Monday’s appointment with the endocrinologist, which I scheduled back in June. Pookie’s height percentile has improved slightly (3rd now, up from 1st in June), but his head circumference percentile ranking has increased, too, to a whopping 95th (it was 91 in June)!!! That kind of discrepancy between head and body size is what makes the doctor think it’s worth looking into. It could just be the way he is proportioned and normal for him, OR it could be that something else is going on. Hopefully the endocrinologist will have something useful to tell me. Of course, I will explain what happened after I see her.
Anyway, that is all for now.

Thanks for all the digestive details 😉
I’m glad everyone is feeling better, exploring and adventuring. Very cute to see him plotting the destruction of your home, one section at a time. 😉
I need a video, soon. Please. Preferably one with the parents too!!! Needy, I know!
Toodles!
We were sorry that you and Cinda got so sick, but I am grateful that neither Rippey and I didn’t. We have been fine. I’m glad you found some way to give Emrick a little freedom on the tile…he was bound and determined to get on that tile when
we were there and at the very last of our visit he wouldn’t even let you hold his hand…he wanted to do it ALL BY HIMSELF.
Such an amazing little character. Love him so much.
