It’s Father’s Day!

Today is Father’s Day. And since both my dad and my husband already have plenty of barbecue equipment and neckties, I’ve decided to post a few pictures here instead so that we all may glory in their greatness!

This is Ed, Shona's dad, in 1966.

The baby is me, Shona. I'm not sure what the year is... 1984 maybe? The dude holding me is Dad. I don't recognize anyone else in the pic. JK!! My paternal grandparents are to my dad's right. To my dad's left is my mom, and then her mother. The kids are, from tallest to shortest: Clark, Samantha, and Christopher. I think we're related.

I had Marcus scan these pics for me. I notice now that he saved this pic under the name "turkey dad." Funny.

This is Dad holding me up so that I remove the second to last ring on my Christmas countdown chain thingy. That means this is Christmas Eve circa 1999ish.

And now here are some pics I took of Marcus and Emrick today. The outfit is a new arrival from Grandma Cinda. Totally retro, and just in time for Father’s Day!

Emrick will grab just about anything he can reach. This includes your face.

Happy Father’s Day to my two favorite dads!

I would have liked to have said that no dads were harmed in the making of this blog post…

Thank you, Shona, for this thoughtful tribute.

Can’t help noticing your varying age in these captions — so are you 27 or 16? We seem to be seeing a lot less of the tongue now that the teeth have come through. He looks more boy than baby in these pics — as you said, “slow down”.

I was wondering about the dates. Were you joking? or just spacing? If that first pic is 1984, you are a very tiny 9 year old. None the less, nice to see some old pis!

    Sam,

I don’t have any idea what you’re talking about!

It’s a wonder we haven’t all expired from cracking each other up.

Humor (good or bad) rus in the family. I can personally attest that it has kept me from jumping off a tall building! BTW, I have always loved that first picture of dad. No wonder mom snagged him…what a sweet, adorable looking man! Sorry for all you other dad’s out there, just sayin’.

Yes, you are all nuts…..just sayin’, but good nuts! And I can attest to Turkey Dad cause no one could carve a turkey better than the Turkey ( or at least he thought so!) Also, Marcus, I have not met you but I think you’re awesome; pulled, pinched cheeks and all!

That’s funny Janet. I think turkey was dad’s favorite word when we were kids. I’m especially fond of turkey lips. Probably better than some of the alternatives.

Sorry we have been away from the blog for a couple of weeks. Mom and Dad were in town for a few days, we got two days off, and now Marcus has family coming in today! But we will definitely find time to put something up this weekend. Emrick is getting pookier by the day!

Janet, Marcus is indeed awesome. He may even be able to rival Ed in turkey-carving skills.

I can’t believe you actually put that in writing so your Dad can see it! Oh no………
