Highchair!

All right, here’s a new post! As Kellie B and Merlyn noted in the recent comments, it’s been too long since we last posted! 😉

A few weeks ago we bought a little highchair from Ikea for Emrick. It’s been handy for his solid-food feedings, but it’s also been a great place to put him when I need to get some things done in the kitchen, or when Marcus and I sit down to dinner. He seems to like being able to watch us eat, or watch me do dishes during the day or prepare his bottles. If my chores take me behind his chair for a moment, he will turn his head around to see what I’m doing. So nosy! Anyway, here are some cute pics of him sitting in it!

Emrick doesn't look quite as happy here, but I like the way his arm is resting so casually on the edge of the chair. Cute.

In other news, Emrick has taken his first steps! He did this a little over a week ago, and he just keeps getting better and better. When Marcus and I sit on the floor and have him walk back and forth between us a few times, he can take as many as 5 or 6 steps without falling down. He does it pretty well the first couple of times he does it, but then after that he gets too excited; instead of walking then, he’ll take two steps toward me or Marcus and then try to belly-flop the remaining distance. It’s pretty funny, but it requires us to be quick to catch him!

Anyway, we’re in the process of trying to capture some decent video of it. As soon as we do, we’ll post it!

    thank you.
in other news, i think i’m with the majority here in thinking that’s it time to let emrick grow his very first mullet.
do not deny him or us. as fast as his hair grows, it should only take a few months, and then by winter, he’ll need another style…

I guess I forgot to tell Emrick that he was supposed to wait until we got there to start walking! Oh well!

Kellie, There are many things I cannot be certain of regarding Emrick’s future. But I know this: He will never, ever, ever have a mullet.

    Never.
    Ever.

    Shona,

You just have to come to Tampa! I want to squeeze that little guy! He is just adorable! ( Fat chance I’ll get to Utah)

He jsut looks so darn happy! The picture you captioned looks sooooooo like you. Can’t wait for some walking vids, and dare I say it, I want to see the belly flop! If I find a good job for Marcus out here, I must insist he take it and you all move here at once!

Here’s the plan, folks. Everybody move to Utah. The cost of living isn’t much different from Ohio and Florida, and it’s WAY cheaper than California. We have more snow than Cincinnati, but the winter temperatures are much milder. The Christmases are white, which you can’t say for Florida or SoCal. We have skiing, hiking, river rafting, spelunking, hang gliding. Businesses are coming to Utah in droves, which means jobs are, too (Adobe is building a site within walking distance from our house). The air pollution is the worst in the nation, but hey, clean air is overrated. Most of you would trade clean air for low taxes any day, amiright? Back to the positive: We have 360 degrees of mountain views, crazy cloud formations that the most formulaic of landscape artists could never dream up, and a moon that hangs low and bright. Utah is home to one of Cabela’s few locations nationwide (none in FL, OH, or CA) so you would have access to all the guns and ammo you’ll ever need. Downtown SLC is clean and pretty (mostly). Want to live in the boonies of Utah County? Brand new housing there is cheap cheap cheap!!!

So come on, y’all! Let’s shake up Utah!

    I’m considering…

And best of all, you can see Emrick any time you want to….maybe even babysit!

If you’d just get some kind of vast body of water there I’d think about it! I am too much of a beach nut! Plus, my thin Florida blood probably wouldn’t be able to stand the winters! Still want to squeeze the Pookie!

So, that’s a definite maybe from Janet, and a strong YES from Sam! All right!
