A Royal Pookie

Emrick has had a pretty good morning routine going for several weeks now. He wakes up for the day, gets a diaper change, plays for a while, eats breakfast, plays some more, and then he is ready for a nap. The nap happens very predictably around three hours after he first wakes up. Maybe two and half, if he didn’t sleep well the night before.

It’s been nice to count on that nap, and to know when it will happen. If he wakes up at 7:30, the nap happens at 10:30. If he wakes up at 6:50, the nap happens around 9:50. Three hours. And when that three hours is up, I can shower, or do dishes, or just chill. If he naps long enough, I do all three!

What I did not predict, though, was that if one takes a Pookie into the master bedroom after breakfast to watch the Royal Wedding, (which one DVR’d so one could watch it at a reasonable hour), Pookie will go down for a nap an hour and a half ahead of schedule! Yep, turns out, babies get bored. One too many pre-wedding commentator-speculations on what Kate’s dress was going to look like, and Pookie was out for the count!

And then, no joke, the moment the ceremony ended, his head sprang up and he was awake! He’s so smart! Of course, I guess he could have been faking sleep until the wedding was over. If that’s the case, then I wish he would do that more often, like from 7PM to 8AM every day.

Ahhh, Emrick. You may not be interested in royal weddings, but you are the Earl of Chubby-cheek-shire and the Prince of Pookiness…

You are King Babysor!
