Now, I realize this may upset/disappoint/devastate/enrage some of you, but we finally had to give Emrick a haircut! I know! Horrible! I’ve actually been thinking about it for a couple of weeks, but this week something happened that was the last straw. Emrick squirms when he sleeps, which always did funny things to his hair. But by this week, his hair had gotten so long that one morning I woke to find that his squirming had caused the hair from the entire back of his head to be matted and knotted (at least a dozen visible, tiny knots). It looked like animal fur. On top of that, the longer his hair got, the quicker it seemed to get greasy and gross after a bath. So tonight we gave him a haircut and a bath. But first, I took some last pics of his long, greasy coiffure — combed into various amusing styles, of course.
We then proceeded to cut his hair. There are no pictures of that process because it proved to be a two man job. We took turns — one of us holding him, the other one cutting his hair. Then we gave him a bath. He didn’t so much as whimper during the bath, but the haircut upset him greatly…
But soon he was dried, dressed, and camera-ready! He took comfort in gnawing on his sleeve.
With his hair cut so short and boyishly like this, Emrick looks about five years old!

Nearly wet myself in hysterics when I saw the Ralph wiggum. Perfect!! He looks very distinctive with his new haircut! Great job you two!
Good job with the haircut… although I preferred the longer hair 🙂 Rippey has the same cowlick problem so we just keep it short. Emrick looks like such an angel there sleeping but we need pictures of momma holding emrick!!
It’s not a cowlick, it’s hipster do!
Thanks for making me laugh! You guys are having so much fun…….much to Emrick’s dismay I’m sure! LOL
In a couple of those pics, he looks likes he might be getting ready to cut his first teeth (lower front). And he continues to look more and more like his Daddy. I think we’ll start working on flash cards while I’m there so he can grow up to be a writer like his Mommy – you can tell he’s anxious to express himself. Can’t wait to see you all.
I was going to say the same thing about the teeth…it does look like he might be teething cause he always has his fingers or his clothes in his mouth…keep watching..We may soon have a post about teeth all of a sudden popping through. Oh the trials that cute baby has to go through for our amusement!

I don’t know if he’s getting ready to teethe or not. Most of the time when his fingers are in his mouth, he’s grabbing his tongue with them. Hehe. His saliva production has kicked in to high gear, something I mentioned to the doctor last week. He said that at around four months, baby’s saliva glands start producing more anyway, and that it isn’t necessarily a sign of teething. But we’ll see, I guess! Whatever happens, we are sure to have fun documenting Emrick’s misery, just like Janet said! 🙂
